I can't believe that someone just yelled at me for using the word FA in Scrabulous!

She said, "Yeah right. Like you just happen to know that's the the syllable naming the fourth (subdominant) note of the diatonic scale in solmization."

Huh? I just took lots of music lessons as a kid.  And watched The Sound of Music.

Sheesh. No more pick-up games for me.

Like it isn't listed on the two-letter word list. That's totally bizarre.

I know. So weird.

But see, you weren't around so I had to go to that alley on the corner for my fix. LOL.

I did beat her though. :-)

Okay, someday, I guess I'll have to find out what scrabulous is. I think, luckily for me, it sounds like something you need a high-speed connection to play online! FA has always been okay in Scrabble, though...where have they been?

Weird huh? The high-speed helps. It's horribly addicting in a wonderful way. :-)

That's silly, every Julie Andrews fan knows FA: "Fa, a long long way to run..." :-) But you're not going to play anymore b/c she said that?

Oh no. I will play. I play every night. It's my reward for making it through the day job. I just won't do the pickup games with total strangers. I'll play with friends.

I'll practice "safe Scrabulous" LOL

Sorry about the song. Someone put Schoolhouse Rock in my head a little while ago.

Who IS this cretin?

I try out words all the time.

And I STILL can't beat you.

LOL. I'm always trying out new words but FA is right there in the word list they provide.

Good thing I have friends to play with.

Hmph.
Why would this person be the only one who knows FA?
Keep playing and keep having fun with it! No matter who's on the other side! Grrr...smile.

I'll bet that person had never heard of FA, and when she (he?) looked it up, the definition made it sound more obscure than it really is.

Oh, I bet you're right about her looking it up. I hadn't thought of it that way. When she gave me the definition I had to think about it a while.

That is insane!! You can always start a game with me...even though you usually beat me to smithereens!

(I honestly thought everyone knew Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do, but anyone who hates Fa would really hate the weird stuff I play! I try lots of stuff in Scrabulous I wouldn't risk in Scrabble, because I trust the game will let me know if it's a real word or not!)

I regularly play words whose meanings I don't know on Facebook Scrabble. It's open dictionary, after all.

I know. The other thing that was so weird is that there's the 2 letter word list right there in every game and it's in that. Oh well. That's what happens when I get desperate to play and no one's around and I go to the JOIN table. :-)

WHO AM I?

Who am I?I was born on the Cancer/Leo cusp and share a birthday with Ernest Hemingway and Robin Williams. The similarities don't stop there as I can go from depressed to ecstatic without ever passing go. I feel scared most of the time though my friends call me brave and I find it easier to believe in my friends than to believe in my own abilities to make what I want out of my life.

Who am I? A wife, a mother, a daughter, and even, gulp, a grandmother.

Who am I? A writer who never gets tired of playing with words, even when the words are hard to find. A writer of books for children and articles for grown-ups and many things in-between.

Who am I? A motivational speaker, writing instructor, workshop leader and full-time follower of dreams.

Who am I? Read and find out.
